Programmable single-chip master/target PCI bridge
The QL5632 is the latest addition to the QuickPCI family of secure, programmable master/target PCI bridge solutions.
This unique device with its silicon proven PCI core allows designers to focus on developing and integrating their IP within the FPGA fabric and not on the complex development task of designing the PCI interface and dealing with the associated problems of verification, timing closure and protocol compliance verification.
Users can expect to achieve 132Mbyte/s PCIbus performance with zero wait states while easily meeting stringent power requirements of portable PCI applications like mini PCI modules or CardBus cards.
The QL58x2 family supports both master and target functions for 32bit PCI designs.
"As a system integrator, I have implemented QuickLogic's nonvolatile, instant-on programmable PCI devices in many applications", said Peter Marek, General Manager of MarekMicro.
"This is the only solution that gives me the assurance of a fixed function PCI interface, PCI 2.3 compliance and the programmability to customise the device for each of my clients".
"Driven predominantly by the increased adoption of wireless technology, there is an increased demand in battery-operated and power-sensitive systems for an ultra-low-power programmable PCI ESP.
This new QuickPCI family was specifically designed to address the increasing need for a PCI 2.3 compliant bridge for interfacing to Wi-Fi modules in portable, handheld systems and battery operated devices", Bernhard Andretzky, PCI Marketing Manager at QuickLogic.
The QuickPCI ESPs are packaged as a complete solution that includes a comprehensive test suite, reference design kit (RDK) and QuickLogic's renowned customer support.
The QL5842 is sampling now, with production scheduled during June of 2004.
The other members of the family, the QL5832 and QL5822 are scheduled for production during end of Q2, 2004.
Pricing for these new QuickPCI devices starts at $9 in high volume quantities.
The QL5842 and QL5832 are each available in a 484-PBGA, 280-LFPGA or 208-PQFP.
The QL5822 is available in a 196-TFBGA or 144-TQFP.
