Flarion Technologies has officially opened its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Seoul, Korea, with the appointment of Hong Jin (HJ) Kim as Vice President and General Manager of Flarion Asia-Pacific.

With today's announcement, Flarion's flash-OFDM is making the migration from North America to some of the world's most technologically advanced mobile operators in the world.

"We are very pleased to have HJ Kim join the Flarion team as our first general manager of our operations in Asia-Pacific", said Mike Gallagher, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales with Flarion Technologies.

"We made a deliberate choice to set up our headquarters in Seoul.

Korea is part of an exclusive group of countries that are in the forefront of defining the mobile Internet, where flash-OFDM plays an important role".

Kim, as the Vice President of Sales and General Manager of Asia-Pacific operations, leads all aspects of Flarion's customer engagements, sales and marketing in Korea and the growing field sales organisation in Asia-Pacific.

Previously, Kim held general manager and country manager positions with several leading data and telecommunications vendors, including companies such as Lucent Technologies, Ascend (since acquired by Lucent) and Stratus Computer.

Kim is formerly an officer in the Republic of Korea Air Force and holds a BA in Physics from Seoul National University.
