Flarion Technologies demonstrated the future of mobile broadband during the opening keynote sessions at CTIA in Orlando.
During the demonstration, a multimedia user was seamlessly handed off from Flarion's flash-OFDM wide area mobile network to an 802.11 local area network with no interruption to her broadband streaming session as she moved throughout the facility.
"Today, we showed the world that mobile broadband is a reality", said Flarion Technologies' CEO, Ray Dolan.
"With our keynote demonstration of always-on mobile broadband, we unwired the entire Internet without any change to protocols, applications, devices, or content.
The Flarion system enables wireless operators to provide mobile broadband Internet access to business users and consumers at mass market prices while realizing profit margins of 40%".
"We were pleased to debut Flarion's technology to deliver ubiquitous broadband to mobile users, seamlessly across networks", said Tom Wheeler, President and CEO of CTIA.
"Flarion's demo established that WiFi and traditional wireless services are adjuncts that can exist and succeed together".
