Analyser gives more data on frequency sources

A Quartzlock product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Jan 28, 2008

Main benefit is a 40% reduction in oscillator R and D time with ability for many oscillator manufacturers to specify Allan variance for the first time.

Designed for use in the development of oscillators and signal sources, the Quartzlock A7-MX bb broadband frequency and phase analyser compares 5MHz or 10MHz or 50kHz to 65MHz signals, plotting real-time Allan variance (AVAR), absolute and relative frequency difference and phase data.

Oscillator and signal source development and production test applications depend on fast measurement of phase data to realise short term stability AVAR, relative and absolute frequency and other modified AVAR.

The main benefit is a 40% reduction in oscillator R and D time with ability for many oscillator manufacturers to specify Allan variance for the first time and offer more detailed product specifications for users.

Other benefits include the ability to plot very close-in phase noise using Stable 32 from 1mHz offset.

Real-time plotting of short term measurements can be selected from 1ms to 2000s and up to 32,000 data points.
