Quatech is adding six high-performance wireless device servers to an industry-leading product line that already boasts the highest data transfer rates and lowest latency available.

"Creating the industry's best wireless device servers is a natural extension to our wired line", says Steve Runkel, Quatech's President and CEO.

"Our customers are aggressively moving to wireless machine-to-machine networks and have looked to us to expand our high-performance device server line in that direction".

Two of the new products, the SSEW-100D and DSEW-100D, wirelessly network-enable one or two RS232 serial devices, respectively.

Two other models, the SSEW-400D and the DSEW-400D, provide wireless network access to RS232, RS422 and RS485 devices and are software-selectable for each individual port.

The remaining two models, the SSEW-100D-5V and DSEW-100D-5V, provide +5V DC power out on the industry-standard DB-9 serial connector.

These models can power many RS232 devices such as barcode scanners and RFID readers through the serial port, eliminating the need for a dedicated power supply for those devices even while connecting them to a wireless network.

Surge suppression is available on the 100D and 400D models and is standard on the 100D-5V models.

All Quatech wireless device servers offer a simple, integrated configuration process and the embedded 802.11b wireless radio from DPAC offers superior power and receive sensitivity.

Combined with the industry's best processor, a PowerPC from Freescale, these models incorporate a world-class architecture that ensures compatibility with market-leading wireless infrastructures, boosts throughput and reduces latency to the lowest levels possible.

This allows a broader range of serial devices to communicate over a wireless Ethernet network without modifying host software designed to use COM ports.

The new wireless models are available now, directly from Quatech or from their authorised distributors and Q-Partner resellers.

The MSRP for these products are as follows: SSEW-100D ($375), SSEW-100D-5V ($400), SSEW-400D ($400), DSEW-100D ($425), DSEW-100D-5V ($475) and DSEW-400D ($475).
