Receiver tests digital audio broadcasts
The quality of data transmissions broadcast via digital radio can now be monitored using RadioScape's latest professional test and analysis receiver.
Visitors to the stand will gain the first viewing of Texas Instruments' (TI) Eureka digital audio broadcast (DAB) radio solution receiving data from RadioScape's suite of broadcast products.
Visitors will also gain insight into how this can create enhanced radio services and empower M-commerce.
Over 230 million people have access to digital radio worldwide and this number is growing rapidly.
RadioScape supplies its broadcasting products to the Digital One network in the UK and has recently opened offices in the USA.
Earlier this year it licensed its technology to TI, enabling the manufacture of the industry's most cost-effective and lowest-power digital baseband for Eureka DAB radios.
TI's single-chip digital baseband, the TMS320DRE200, costs 40 percent less and consumes 60 percent less power than previous products and will enable a new generation of feature rich and integrated radio products.
"A key application of digital radio is its ability to broadcast low cost data content", said Peter Florence, managing director at RadioScape.
"This has great potential to enable subscription based services, distance learning and even commerce.
In teaming with TI we are showing that we can enable broadcasters to realise this opportunity and open a new avenue for generating revenues".
"We've already been impressed by RadioScape's innovative approach in the development of digital radio", said John Gardner, TI digital radio marketing manager.
"We're convinced that the efforts of RadioScape and TI to make cheaper, more portable radios with datacasting, multimedia and convergence capabilities, will have a significant impact on the digital radio market".
TI's DRE200 evaluation boards will be available at the end of June and can be ordered today.
