At IBC, RadioScape will launch its answer to enabling consumer electronics manufacturers to produce low-cost digital radio receiver products quickly and cost-effectively.

The new service, called QuickDAB, allows manufacturers to bring digital radio products to market more quickly and efficiently without the need for bespoke equipment design, saving them development time and expense.

QuickDAB, a consumer radio design and integration service, helps manufacturers design the core of a digital radio, from the baseband systems to an integrated RF component.

Manufacturers can engage Radioscape's QuickDAB team to customise the design to meet their particular needs.

The QuickDAB service is useful for the introduction of new product lines and can also integrate digital radios into existing products.

Andrew Tixerant, Radioscape's director of worldwide digital radio sales, comments, "QuickDAB makes digital radio production simple and quick, empowering manufacturers to enter this exciting new market place.

The service enhancements offered by digital radio and its ability to deliver low-cost multimedia services make it a compelling market for every manufacturer of consumer electronics.

QuickDAB significantly lowers the cost-of-entry into this emerging market".

QuickDAB supports the industry-leading, low-power, low-cost Texas Instruments TMS320DRE200 digital baseband, developed with software from RadioScape, and provides the industry's first Eureka-147 DAB integration kit to promote digital radio access for the mass of consumers.

QuickDAB includes TI's low-cost digital radio components, unveiled in July, which greatly reduce OEMs' bills of materials.
