Morphy Richards is set to enter the digital audio broadcast marketplace with its first range of DAB radios, which will all be based on the RadioScape RS200 module.

Morphy Richards is set to enter the digital audio broadcast marketplace with its first range of DAB radios, which will all be based on the RadioScape RS200 module.

"We are delighted that a major British brand, such as Morphy Richards, has decided to base its new product range on our modules", said John Hall, RadioScape's CEO.

"We took great care in designing this module to ensure that it can be produced in huge volumes from industry standard parts unlike other DAB designs that use customs chips.

The processor at the heart of the design is an application specific DSP based on core technology from Texas Instruments that is produced in the millions".

"We are very pleased that the approach of RadioScape with its new module means that as the market for DAB receivers picks up pace we can bring highly featured digital radios to market quickly at the right price with the security of supply we need to meet the markets requirements", explained Nadia Scott at Morphy Richards.

"Texas Instruments is excited to see new receivers become available, especially when they are powered by TI and Radioscape technology.

This announcement by Morphy Richards is very good news for the digital radio market", said Les Mable, TI's Business Development Manager for Digital Radio.

"We are able to meet Morphy Richards' need for feature-rich digital radios by not only having current products that are supported worldwide, but also a solid roadmap that will address receivers of the future".

The RadioScape RS200 module includes DAB, FM and RDS and is priced at under $40 in volume quantities, enabling digital radio manufacturers to quickly and easily bring feature rich products to market at very competitive prices.

RadioScape's unique Software Defined Radio approach to DAB enables custom features to be added as software to the module to provide product differentiation.
