Toolset accelerates 3G development
RadioScape has announced the worldwide availability of the RadioLab 3G 2.0 system-level design toolset.
"RadioScape's innovative DAB module will help us to maintain this with what we believe will be the lowest priced DAB radio separate that is packed with features such as FM and RDS.
Also, because the FM and RDS is fully integrated with the DAB part, they share the same controls and display giving a very clean, easy to use design that matches in perfectly with the rest of our hifi separates.
RadioScape has created an operational structure using specialist manufacturing partners for the modules in the Asia Pacific region that makes it very easy to do business with and enables us to get product into the market in record time".
Although Acoustic Solutions is currently focused on the UK for sales, the company is looking to expand sales into other countries where DAB is starting to follow the UK lead.
"Our DAB module offers so many benefits over other products that we are becoming the solution of choice for DAB radio manufacturers", commented Dave Hawkins, RadioScape's Business Manager for Digital Radio.
"It is very competitively priced, feature rich, enables product differentiation and is available in high volumes with short lead times.
Manufacturers are gearing up now for the Christmas market and we anticipate being the enabling technology for a major share of the market.
Some manufacturers, such as Acoustic Solutions, are moving even faster - thanks to our module approach being so easy to design with - and will have products in the marketplace from August 2003".
Les Mable, TI's Business Development Manager for Digital Radio, added, "Hifi separates is an important market sector for DAB as it enables customers to easily add the benefits of DAB to their existing hifi.
We are very pleased that Acoustic Solutions has chosen the RS200, based on TI's DRE200, for advantages of cost and time-to-market, while using the different features the module has to offer".
The RadioScape RS200 module includes DAB, FM and RDS and is priced at less than $40 in volume quantities, enabling digital radio manufacturers to quickly and easily bring feature rich products to market at very competitive prices.
RadioScape's unique Software Defined Radio approach to DAB enables custom features to be added as software to the module to provide product differentiation.
