The latest addition to RadioScape's growing range of innovative DAB modules is the RadioScape RS201.

The latest addition to RadioScape's growing range of innovative DAB modules is the RadioScape RS201 It is based on the company's highly successful RadioScape RS200, which is used at the heart of more than a dozen DAB radio designs and accounts for more than a third of current digital radio sales in the UK

The RS201 has the additional features of CD control, infra-red remote control, clock and alarm functions as well as DAB, FM and RDS, making it ideal as the heart of a new generation of DAB-enabled boomboxes and hifi systems.

"The RS200 has been tremendously successful in opening up the kitchen radio market for new manufacturers", explained Andrew Moloney, RadioScape's Marketing Manager, "as it is extremely easy to create differentiated products with it".

"The new integrated nature of the RS201 reduces the incremental cost of adding DAB to multifunction products, increasing the attractiveness of such products in the market".

"We expect that this segment will now enjoy a similar rapid growth to that of DAB kitchen radios".

RadioScape's software-defined radio approach enables new and unique functions and updates to be added quickly and easily.

As a result, RadioScape's modules are now the solution of choice for most of the leading DAB receiver manufacturers.

These manufacturers select them because of their high quality reception, ease of implementation and the software-defined approach that provides huge scope for product differentiation.

Manufacturers can make a DAB-enabled, multifunction product with the addition of only a few items as the module has all the control and functionality integrated within it, ensuring that system level costs are kept low.

This module approach can reduce the time taken from months to weeks so that products can be in the shops in Q3 2004 for ramp up to the Christmas market.

The single supply voltage of 5V and compact size of only 44 x 110 x 15mm, makes it compact enough to be used in battery as well as mains powered products.

The price for the RS201 module is under $30 depending on the volume and features ordered.

The design of the module can be licensed if manufacturers wish to build it themselves.
