The LuxCis high-density low-cost fibre-optic butt-joint physical contact has been chosen for the ARINC 801 standard.

The LuxCis high-density low-cost fibre-optic butt-joint physical contact has been chosen for the ARINC 801 standard.

LuxCis is based on a standard 1.25mm ceramic ferrule and sleeve and is compatible with standard LC polishing processes.

The connector features a fully pull-proof design as the cable jacket is crimped on the external body; a floating mechanism avoids any loss of contact when pulling on the cable.

This feature, which is available only with a semi-loose cable jacket, allows the use of the LuxCis terminal without a connector backshell.

The insertion loss (per IEC61300-3-4 method B) for single-mode fibre is typically 0.10dB and 0.45dB maximum; for multimode fibre the respective figures are 0.07 and 0.32dB.

The minimum return loss according to IEC 61300-3-6 standard is 50dB PC and 60dB APC for single-mode fibre and for 20dB multimode.

Initially used in military and aerospace applications, the LuxCis fibre-optic interconnect system is available in standard connector formats such as MIL-DTL-38999, Arinc 600 and EPXA and B.

The connector design includes a removable sleeve holder, which provides easy access to the contact and optical face.

The LuxCis contact can be inserted and removed into the connector cavity with a standard size 16 removal tool.
