1U platform is basis for flexible appliances
Radisys Corp has a 1U platform for OEMs who are developing a variety of complex appliances on a single common server platform.
"As embedded systems grow in complexity, developers need higher performance platforms that deliver leading edge technology and don't cost a fortune to sustain over the product life cycle", said Fred Yentz, Vice President for Radisys.
"Radisys has a reputation for providing embedded solutions with exceptional engineering support and revision control all of which equate to a lower cost of ownership.
We not only supply customers with the platform necessary to develop better products faster, but they can also count on the availability over a timeframe far exceeding commercial motherboards".
Engineered to meet the needs of embedded equipment developers, the BG845G is also designed to support Pentium 4 mobile processors for applications where reduced power consumption is an important selection criterion.
To ensure longevity, the BG845G incorporates Intel's 845GV embedded chipset, which has a projected lifetime of 5 years.
The board is also equipped with six high-speed USB 2.0 ports allowing simultaneous use of multiple high bandwidth peripherals.
Other unique features include dual Ethernet ports (Gigabit or 10/100), a watchdog timer, a 13bit GPIO port (capable of driving a character-mode LCD display) and support for PCI riser cards facilitating the use in low profile chassis.
To enable compliance with standards required for legalised gaming applications, the BG845G is designed with a build option for socketed, write-protected BIOS.
Additionally a TPM module enables the BG845G to be used as a secure platform in equipment such as transaction terminals where security features are increasingly required as a design-in feature for next generation products.
The Endura BG845G is sampling with customers now and will be available in production quantities in April 2003.
The manufacturer's suggested retail price for unit quantities of the base specification (with single 10/100 Ethernet) is $248.
Discounts are available for OEM quantities.
