The EPC-3412 is a single slot general purpose CPU blade ideal for use in PICMG 2.16 compatible systems.

The EPC-3412 is a single slot general purpose CPU blade ideal for use in PICMG 2.16 compatible systems.

Based on the Intel Mobile Pentium 4 Processor M, the EPC-3412 is targeted at OEMs developing diverse applications such as VoIP, VPN, speech processing, WAP servers, SS7 signalling gateways, traffic management/shaping blades, switching and advanced call centre applications.

The Pentium 4 performance allows more processing capability per blade, thereby increasing the functionality of the given application.

In today's environment of incredibly stretched budgets and shrinking development schedules, OEMs are counting on vendors to supply hardware and software components that can reduce development costs of next generation communications systems and accelerate their time to market.

"Availability of the EPC-3412 strengthens our family of products and builds on the success we've had with our entire line of PICMG 2.16 compliant products", said Fred Yentz, Vice President at Radisys.

"The flexibility and functionality found in the EPC-3412 means OEMs developing complex telecom and enterprise applications can design better products, faster and at a lower cost".

The EPC-3412 is available with a target lifetime of three to five years and is backed up by world-class engineering support services including change management, revision control, BIOS customisation, technical support, high quality design and manufacture.

This support not only ensures OEMs of a long-term solution, but also results in a lower cost of ownership.

Based on the Intel 845E chipset with ICH4 communications controller, the EPC-3412 is a PICMG 2.16 compliant blade and features dual 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports, dual IPMI bus, optional onboard IDE hard drive, and a dual programmable watchdog timer.

It supports a maximum of 2Gbyte of memory using industry-standard DDR200/233 SDRAM with ECC.

The EPC-3412 also offers full set of front panel of I/O interfaces including VGA, one Ethernet port, one USB port, and one serial port alleviating the need for a rear transition module (RTM) for most applications.

Additional I/O available via the RTM include: floppy; IDE; both Ethernet ports; keyboard; mouse; USB; and serial.

The EPC-3412 is available immediately and in two configurations.

Customers can purchase the board with either an IDE bracket or PMC site.

MSRP is $1349 and OEM pricing is $999 for either configuration.

The Radisys EPC-3412 is available today and comes with a two-year warranty.
