This combined with the wireless industry's transition to data means new methods of testing and monitoring network equipment are needed.
The Radisys ENP-3504 facilitates wire speed monitoring through its unique combination of hardware and integrated software.
To achieve wire speed monitoring and test capability in their products, manufacturers would need to develop unique, high-performance software code and several line cards to accommodate the significant processing power required.
By incorporating the Radisys ENP-3504, which is equipped with embedded software, into their designs developers can achieve the needed processing power with one module, saving them time and money.
"The ENP-3504 builds on our popular family of IXP-based products and adds significant functionality to our line of PICMG 2.16 products", said Fred Yentz, Vice President for RadiSys.
"Monitoring high speed optical links is very important to assure quality of service in the network.
Having a ready-made solution like the ENP-3504 for monitoring ATM traffic helps customers develop better solutions faster and at a lower cost".
Using the RadiSys ENP-3504, designers can develop, optimise and debug advanced networking products for wireless infrastructure and multiservice provisioning platforms.
The ENP-3504 offers a comprehensive suite of protocols bundled with the hardware, including ATM, AAL-2/SSSAR, AAL-5/CPCS, assuring customers compatibility and adherence to telecommunications and industrial computing applications specifications.
With one module, designers can now implement filtering and monitoring of AAL2 and AAL5 streams into their products.
The ENP-3504 is equipped with an Intel IXP network processor with StrongARM core and six multithreaded micro-engines, which are capable of wire-speed packet analysis, processing and forwarding.
The card features eight 10/100BaseT Ethernet connections, which are accessible through a rear transition module.
The ENP-3504 also provides a dual OC-3c optical interface to the IXP network via an OC-3c daughter card (PMC).
The ENP-3504 features two PICMG 2.16 compliant 10/100 Ethernet ports to enable redundancy.
Software for the ENP-3504 includes firmware, bearer-plane applications for the IXP1240, a Linux support package and support for development tools.
The RadiSys ENP-3504 is available immediately and priced at US $6250.
