RAD Data Communications increased its sales of ATM access equipment by more than 90% in 2001.

RAD Data Communications increased its sales of ATM access equipment by more than 90% in 2001 The company reports that ATM product sales worldwide reached $29.7 million in 2001, in comparison with $15.4 million in 2000 - a jump of 93%

"Carriers have come to recognise the many benefits of ATM access, especially in light of the current slowdown in the market and the delay in the deployment of next generation networks", explains Yacov Cazes, ATM Senior Product Line Manager at RAD Data Communications.

"In response to these developments, carriers have begun to use their existing ATM infrastructures as revenue generators and a means to leverage new services", Cazes continues.

"RAD, with its variety of ATM access solutions, is seen today by carriers around the world as a market leader in ATM access".

RAD's ACE family of ATM access devices provides simplified ATM access at the customer premises.

These devices are used by carriers to improve and lower the cost of ATM-based services by offering end-to-end management, QoS control, traffic management, fault localisation and interworking with other services such as voice, LAN and frame relay.

They can also be used for smart demarcation between ATM networks or between ATM and IP networks.

In addition, ACE products enable simple provisioning, end-to-end performance monitoring and traffic management capabilities which allow SLA differentiation.

They can also be used to connect colocated second- and third-generation cellular equipment over ATM access networks.
