Electromechanical specialist Radiatron has added the Fujikura range of optical connectors to its portfolio under an exclusive UK distribution agreement.

Electromechanical specialist Radiatron has added the Fujikura range of optical connectors to its portfolio under an exclusive UK distribution agreement.

Fujikara is the world's 4th largest manufacture of optical connectors and has80% market share in the global market for multifibre ferrules.

The company's products are primarily used in fibre optic networks but are suited to any application that requires optical interconnect.

The standard range of over 45 types includes multifibre connectors, field installable versions, backplane connectors, adapters, mechanical splices and fibre optic cord assemblies.

Where applicable, the connectors are fully compliant with international specifications including JIS and IEC standards.

Cable assemblies are all produced in Fujikura's ISO9002 accredited facility and 100% test of pigtails, patch leads and fan-out assemblies is undertaken.

Commenting on the agreement, Radiatron's Divisional Director, Ian Groves, said: "With the rapid growth in bandwidth of network infrastructure and systems we needed to find a leading supplier of optical interconnect to complement our overall offering of enclosures, backplanes and systems.

Fujikura provides breadth of product, excellent technical performance and the compliance with standards that our communications customers need.

In addition, the exclusive agreement means that we can invest heavily in design-in work and adding optical connectors to our portfolio will enable us to both expand business with existing customers and attract new ones".
