French award for FRAM
Leading French electronics magazine Electronique has awarded this year's prize in the processors and memories category of its annual Electron D'Or awards to the FM24C256-SE FRAM.
Leading French electronics magazine Electronique has awarded this year's prize in the processors and memories category of its annual Electron D'Or awards to Ramtron International for its FM24C256-SE FRAM.
In the award's 6th year, finalists in each of the twelve categories were reviewed and judged by a 13-person jury.
The jury consisted of end-users of components, distribution specialists and university professionals.
"Ramtron is delighted to have been awarded this prestigious award by Electronique", said Mike Alwais, Vice-President, FRAM Products, Ramtron International.
"The award demonstrates how the introduction of 1T-1C technology last year dramatically increased the number of users of FRAM.
Our customer base and production volumes continue to grow in 2002 to levels consistent with older more mature technologies.
We are confident that FRAM will substitute other nonvolatile memories in applications that need a fast write speed, high endurance and low power consumption".
With its superior write performance and 256Kbyte memory capacity, the FM24C256 offers a cost-effective replacement for battery-packed SRAMs.
Typical applications require significant data storage capacity, such as utility metering and real-time configuration storage.
Like other FRAM products, the FM24C256 offers fast write-operations and very high write-endurance.
It offers improved functionality to EEPROM users eliminating the back up battery and saves system costs in SRAM applications.
For ease of development the FM24C256 is protocol compatible with industry standard two-wire EEPROMs.
