Seminar takes in all EU environmental changes
Industry briefing seminar to cover "Producer responsibility legislation and its impact on product development".
Rapra Technology will host an industry briefing seminar on "Producer responsibility legislation and its impact on product development" at its HQ in Shrewsbury, UK, on 28th June 2007.
In recent years there has been a plethora of legislation produced by the European Commission on the premise of making manufacturing more environmentally responsible.
Legislation such as the WEEE Directive and the RoHS Directive have impacted particularly on the electrical and electronics manufacturers; but there is a wide range of additional emerging regulations and legislation that will have an even broader impact on a cross section of industry.
Examples include the Energy using Products (EuP) Directive and the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) regulations.
Rapra Technology has organised this one-day event to enable product developers - designers and engineers and others - to gain an up-date on the status of "producer responsibility" legislation enabling them to evaluate how this might impact on their material selections and design considerations with regard to product life cycle and final disposal.
The briefing will be presented by Dr Martin Goosey, Industrial Director of the Innovative Electronics Manufacturing Research Centre at Loughborough University and Peter Evans of pbe environmental solutions.
