The ICS-645D 32-channel data acquisition card bundles ADC, gain and antialias filtering resources in one PCI card and includes a programmable clock source onboard.

Further expanding the range of solutions offered by the company for applications in high-frequency sonar, test and measurement and radar, ICS - part of Radstone Embedded Computing - today announced the ICS-645D 32-channel data acquisition card A development of the highly successful ICS-645, the ICS-645D not only bundles ADC, gain, and antialias filtering resources in one PCI card (thus removing the need for customers to provide separate signal conditioning circuitry in advance of the analogue to digital conversion) but also eliminates the need for auxiliary clock sources by including a programmable clock source onboard

"The ICS-645C has become the de facto standard in products designed for the acoustic marketplace in terms of channel density, signal conditioning and an excellent tradeoff between speed and resolution", said Scott Hames, Director of Product Management at ICS.

"The ICS-645D is the latest iteration of this very successful product line, and adds new levels of functionality and performance to a robust, stable, baseline platform".

The ICS-645D includes all the best signal conditioning attributes of the ICS-645C - namely differential inputs, four voltage ranges, and antialias filtering - and improves on the 645C by substantially increasing the amount of storage onboard, and increasing the available I/O bandwidth over either PCI or FPDP.

Combining high-speed delta-sigma ADCs (AD9260) with onboard gain and filtering, as well as high-speed data routes (PCI 64/66 or FPDP II) back to the host system, the ICS-645D has been optimised to provide maximum functionality in a single full length PCI card.

One of the primary concerns in a high-channel count, high-speed ADC card is the problem of moving the data back to the host processor or recorder.

The ICS-645D provides the user with two high bandwidth data paths for communication with host systems.

The 64/66 PCI interface provides datarates in excess of 400Mbyte/s (sustained aggregate rate - not the burst rate), and the FPDP II port provides a dedicated connection to collect data from multiple cards, while eliminating operating system concerns such as interrupt latencies.

The ICS-645D provides up to 16Mbyte of onboard storage, allowing it to tolerate unpredictable interrupt latencies encountered in non-real-time operating systems.
