LCD controller IC can display text and graphics on monochrome STN LCDs, and is fully compatible with the Epson SIDI3305 LCD controller.

RAiO Technology has released a new LCD controller IC that can display text and graphics on monochrome STN LCDs The RA8835A supports resolutions up to 640 x 256 pixel, it can display layered text, graphics and combined text/graphics display modes, and also includes functions such as smooth horizontal and vertical scrolling, blink, partial the display into multiple screens and programmable cursor control

The controller incorporates external CGROM that can display up to 256 x 8 x 16 pixel characters, and 64 x 8 x 16 pixel characters in external CGRAM; its internal mask programmed character generator ROM also allows 160 x 5 x 7 character display on LCD panels.

The RA8835A supports 6800 and 8080 family microprocessor interfaces, also features transferring data from the controlling microprocessor to the buffer memory, reading memory data, converting data to display pixels and generating timing signals for the buffer memory.

The RA8835A is fully compatible with the Epson SIDI3305 LCD controller, which is no longer manufactured by Epson.

With the RA8835A, SIDI3305 users can easily replace to this new controller for their applications without modify existing LCD modules or PCB layout, therefore reduce redevelopment costs.

And the newer manufacturing process gives the new circuit improved features and lower power consumption.

Samples of the RA8835A are available from RAiO and its authorised distributors in the USA, Europe and Asia.
