New from Raychem Circuit Protection, the MAC300 PolySwitch resettable fuse is custom designed for the new AAAA NiMH cells with increased capacity in a smaller space.

New from the Raychem Circuit Protection division of Tyco Electronics, the MAC300 PolySwitch resettable fuse is custom designed for the new AAAA NiMH cells with increased capacity in a smaller space.

Effective pack protection is provided by incorporating the MAC300 device in a compact moulded cap combined with cell interconnect which is welded to one of the cell buttons.

The device limits current in the event of a fault such as accidental shorting or abusive charging.

"Space restrictions in portable electronics have driven the development of the AAAA cell, and Raychem Circuit Protection has developed a custom part specifically for the protection of this exciting new form factor", said Frank Owen, Marketing Director for Raychem Circuit Protection.

"The MAC300 device has been designed to meet the emerging requirements of this market".

The MAC300 device is attached to two adjacent cells with a precision fit cap designed for AAAA cell buttons.

This design conserves space and simplifies installation.

The device hold current is 3.0A at 25C, with a typical initial resistance of 24mW and a voltage withstand of 8V.
