Release 4 test cases approved
Racal Instruments Wireless Solutions now has 15 of the 22 test cases outlined in Release 4 approved by the GCF and 12 for the PTCRB standards bodies.
Racal Instruments Wireless Solutions (RIWS) now has 15 of the 22 test cases outlined in Release 4 (Rel-4) approved by the GCF and 12 for the PTCRB standards bodies, continuing its commitment to delivering robust test cases that help manufacturers shorten handset development lead times.
These latest approvals further establish RIWS as the market leader in delivering the latest test technology to the industry ahead of the competition.
Release 4 is the next evolution of the 3GPP standards after Release 99.
RIWS' test cases for Rel-4 certification include Network Assisted Cell Change (NACC) and Extended Uplink TBF on the 6103 AIME/CT platform (listed as platform 11).
In addition RIWS has already launched its Dual Transfer Mode (DTM) test capability on the 6103 AIME platform and is well advanced in validating DTM test cases.
DTM provides the ability to use circuit switched and packet switched connections to one mobile simultaneously.
RIWS' track record in delivering approved test cases is unrivalled.
Research shows that RIWS test platforms have the lowest number of downgraded and recategorised test cases for GSM/GPRS/EGPRS, indicating the fewest errors have been found by manufacturers and test labs after validation has been performed.
The significance of this for the handset manufacturer is that users of RIWS' test platforms suffer less disruption and lost man hours investigating why tests are not performing as expected due to test case disqualification during terminal R and D or the certification process.
The benefits of this are quicker cycle times in performing certification, reducing costs and increasing MS certification throughput.
RIWS has supplied conformance test platforms to test houses and the majority of top tier manufacturers worldwide.
