Miniature LVDTs allow high pressure rating

A RDP Electronics product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team May 1, 2009

RDP Electronics has developed versions of miniature LVDTs that can operate submersed in non-corrosive, non-conductive oil at pressures up to 2,000 bar.

Typical applications that require operation in oil include mounting the transducer within a pressurised valve where the device may be subjected to high levels of air pressure or vacuum.

Based on RDP's D5, D6 and ACT transducers, the modified versions maintain the same miniature dimensions and do not compromise the accuracy, infinite resolution and life-cycle characteristics of the standard models.

The design modifications allow a high pressure rating by ensuring a free fluid flow around the transducer, although some applications may be restricted to a maximum temperature of 30C.
