Don't go to Birmingham next month is the message from the organisers of Nepcon.

With the first week of April traditionally the time when Nepcon takes place, it would be very easy to turn up at the UK NEC expecting the usual blend of interesting, educational and fun features for the electronics industry But anyone doing so this year is more likely to find exhibitors displaying make-up or model trains than pick-and-place machines

As part of the sweeping changes to the format of the industry's premier show, Nepcon has this year moved from April to the first week of October.

"By scheduling the show in October, there will be nearly a full year between Nepcon and Europe's largest event, Productronica", explains Justin Tadman, Exhibition Director.

"With Nepcon also becoming a more expansive, biennial show, this means that we are in a position to attract more exhibitors showing a wider range of equipment.

The aim is to make it the largest industry event in Europe in 2002".

Nepcon will still take place at the NEC, this year in Halls 1 and 2 between 1st and 3rd October.

The changes to the format and dates of the show, which will give it a fresh and contemporary outlook to more accurately meet visitor and exhibitor requirements, have been implemented in response to changing market forces.

The new concept follows detailed exhibitor and visitor research and months of consultations between Reed Exhibitions and leading figures throughout the electronics manufacturing industry.

As Tadman says: "Nepcon is evolving.

We do not want to change any of the things that are good about the show, as we know from our research that it is very highly respected.

But we do want to provide the industry with a format that works for everyone involved, whether they be potential exhibitors or visitors".
