Big turnout expected at Nepcon
Reed Exhibitions is expecting around 350 companies to be represented at this year's Nepcon exhibition.
Reed Exhibitions is expecting around 350 companies to be represented at this year's Nepcon exhibition.
The number of visitors and exhibitors on-site is expected to be around 40,000 due to the show's colocation with Interplas.
Together with the optimistic results of a recent market survey, these statistics provide a bright outlook for Nepcon 2002 and the industry as a whole given extremely tough market conditions over the last 18 months.
"Nepcon will be the first electronics show in the UK for a year and half, and there will not be another main Nepcon event for another two years", comments Exhibition Director Justin Tadman.
"With this in mind, many companies are taking the chance to exhibit their products despite the market downturn having been far longer and far deeper than was ever anticipated.
This demonstrates not only the inherent strength of the UK electronics industry, but also the enduring value and strength of the Nepcon tradition and brand".
Nepcon and Interplas, the leading show for the plastics and rubber industry, are expected to have a combined show floor size of around 12,000m2, with a crossover point between Halls 1 and 5.
Recent results from a specially commissioned survey by Reed Exhibitions indicated that many companies across several electronics industry sectors are predicting an upturn in production volumes and capital expenditure over the next six months.
62% of the sample of 482 companies predicted that their unit production would increase over the period, with the number of companies expecting to operate at above 90% of production was up by 45% on the preceding six month period.
"Any market predictions should be viewed with caution at the current time, as the market is still extremely volatile", says Tadman.
"However, these results provide an interesting glimpse at the direction in which the market appears to be moving with Nepcon approaching".
