Latest Verilog standard released
IEEE 1364-2001, the Verilog hardware description language (HDL) standard, also known as Verilog-2001, was approved by the IEEE as a revised standard in March of this year.
SDF gains IEEE approval
Accellera's Standard Delay Format (SDF) has been approved as IEEE Standard 1497-2001, and is now available from the IEEE.
"The level of genuine interest and commercial activity was extremely encouraging for the industry and a strong endorsement for the direction in which Nepcon is headed".
VSMT finalised the first sale of its newly launched QPlacer 4000 pick-and-place machine to Onboard, a contract assembler looking to upgrade the capabilities of one of its assembly lines.
"The QPlacer 4000 effectively gives us seven times the number of component placements per hour due to fact that we can now run four jobs simultaneously", explains Onboard's Fred Starkey.
"It takes all of our existing feeders, has exceptionally fast set-up time and is basically a plug-in replacement".
"VSMT also offer a very good service contract, and all of these combined factors made the purchasing decision very easy".
As part of new investment by UK-based manufacturing services business Barric in equipment, leading-edge processes and capabilities, the company concluded the purchase of a DEK Horizon 03 automated preplacement platform at Nepcon.
"Being able to service the needs of our customers means we have to be able to deliver fast turnaround, competitive pricing and a high quality end product every time", explains Adrian Spinlove, Production Manager at Barric.
"DEK's Horizon 03 delivers the high repeatability and extensive automation features we need to meet our objectives for outstanding production quality and fast turnaround, and further extends the range of capabilities we can offer our customers".
DiagnoSYS was the recipient of an order from HTEC, a high-tech contract manufacturer based in Southampton, for its new ScanPoint DT desktop AOI system, also to assist in meeting increasing customer demands.
"Cost, quality and delivery are vital to any manufacturer's success, and it is a company's ability to accept and react quickly to these demands that will determine whether it will prosper or perish", says Neil Carpenter, Senior Production Engineer at HTEC.
