Sagem opts for SH-Mobile processor
The SH-Mobile multimedia processor for GSM mobile handsets has been chosen to power the multimedia functions of Sagem's latest high-end mobile phone, the myX-8.
The SH-Mobile multimedia processor for GSM mobile handsets has been chosen to power the multimedia functions of Sagem's latest high-end mobile phone, the myX-8.
The recently launched product by the European manufacturer represents the latest step towards the convergence of mobile telephony and consumer entertainment devices.
The SH-Mobile solution consists of a multimedia platform, built on a powerful microprocessor-based device, enabling high-range functionality combined with extremely low power consumption.
"Sagem's myX-8 is exactly the kind of feature-rich multimedia mobile handset for which our SH-Mobile processors were developed".
"Consumer demand for combining advanced mobile entertainment with cellular services is encouraging handset designers to provide increasingly powerful devices", commented Ikuya Kawasaki, Deputy General Manager of System Solution Business Unit 2, Renesas Technology.
"Already 25 leading handset manufacturers have turned to SH-Mobile to satisfy this demand".
The Sagem myX-8 will be on display on the Renesas Technology stand (E49, Hall 2) this week at 3GSM World Congress in Cannes.
