Alliance to further Chinese automotive electronics

Renesas Technology is working with the China Automotive Technology and Research Centre to boost the development of electronics technology for the Chinese motor industry.

Renesas Technology Corp is working with the China Automotive Technology and Research Centre (CATARC) to boost the development of electronics technology for the Chinese automobile industry.

Renesas will contribute by providing appropriate microcomputers and technical support for automotive systems developed by CATARC.

Renesas has over 20 years' experience in semiconductors for the automotive industry, mainly in Europe, America and Japan.

It provides microcomputer-based system solutions for car audio, dashboard, body control and car navigation systems, and holds a major position in these sectors.

With attention being directed toward the Chinese automotive market with its enormous future growth potential, Renesas has begun consolidating its sales and technical support bases, establishing quality control centres and undertaking design for the Chinese automotive market.

CATARC was established in 1985.

It is a scientific research institute, which was funded by the state, and is now affiliated to China State-owned Estate Supervision and Administration Committee of the State Council.

CATARC administrates automotive technical regulations with the state, develops automotive systems and provides technical support in response to Chinese market demands.

Through collaboration with Chinese organisations such as CARTAC, Renesas will provide products and technical support in line with the technological trends and needs of the Chinese automotive electronics industry.

Renesas will increase the brand recognition of its microcomputers in the Chinese market and contribute to the development of the Chinese automotive industry by making use of the company's accumulated experience and knowhow.
