Microcontrollers for motor control applications
Renesas Technology Europe has announced the H8/36077GF series of low-cost, high-performance microcontrollers, created for consumer motor control applications.
Renesas Technology Europe has announced the H8/36077GF series of low-cost, high-performance microcontrollers, created for consumer motor control applications.
The single-chip package integrates all the elements required for most applications, such as oscillators, analogue inputs, timers, and provides engineers with an easy to integrate single-chip design.
In addition, its H8/300H CPU core offers far higher performance than similar 8bit devices in the same market.
The H8/36077GF offers a low-cost integrated upgrade to existing Renesas H8/300H users and is both pin and function compatible with devices such as the H8/3687GF microcontroller.
In addition, the large on-chip SRAM makes the H8/36077G ideal for applications requiring high levels of data handling and calculation and the 32 or 56 Kbytes of single supply Flash memory allow for easy reprogramming of the memory without the need for special circuitry.
This allows customers to reduce inventory and implement bug fixes and software updates in the field.
The H8/36077G targets all functions requiring low cost motor control, such as white goods and low power industrial applications.
However, the series is also ideally designed for Internet-enabled applications such as communication gateways or protocol converters.
This is due to the integration of both the required CPU performance and communication capability, including two high-speed serial ports with up to 4Kbytes of SRAM for buffering, which add to the device's flexibility.
In addition, the new series integrates a multi-master I2C interface, allowing the H8/36077G to communicate with a variety of powerful peripherals such as serial EEPROMs, other microcontrollers and telecoms ICs.
The I2C interface, alongside two high-speed USARTs and 8 channels of 10 bit A/D conversion, makes the H8/36077G an attractive option for other consumer applications such as set-top boxes, radios and stereos where it can be used as a low cost systems controller for handling housekeeping and I/O functions.
The H8/36077G series is shipping now, in a 64 pin QFP package.
