Mobile processor offers cost-effective multimedia
The SH-MobileUL2 incorporates high-performance video processing IP that supports the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) moving image compression standard.
It is ideal for EPOS and other highly functional consumer and industrial applications with limited space for components, such as sensors in industrial production lines or health monitoring.
The H8S/2378BF uses Renesas' expertise in advanced package technologies to offer a high level of integration and performance in a small package.
In addition to 512Kbyte Flash memory and 32Kbyte RAM, the H8S/2378 features a large peripheral set including five SCI ports with IrDA, IIC and ISO7816, a timer pulse unit (TPU), an 8bit timer, a programmable pattern generator (PPG), a watchdog timer, a data transfer controller (DTC), analogue to digital and digital to analogue convertors, direct memory access (DMA), and EXDMA.
On-chip debug (OCD) for the H8S/2378BF is available from Renesas (E10A-USB) and Lauterbach (Trace32-ICD).
The microcontroller is available in both 144-pin QFP (quad flatpack) and LGA-145 (land grid array) packages, which offer many other benefits including superior electrical characteristics, very low soldering failure due to their self-align effect and compatibility with conventional soldering techniques.
Samples of the H8S/2378BF LGA are available now.
