MCUs major on motor control
A series of fully integrated low-cost high-performance 16bit microcontrollers offers everything on-chip that the user needs for consumer motor control applications.
Available now from Renesas Technology Europe, the H8/36094GF series of fully integrated low-cost high-performance 16bit microcontrollers offers everything on-chip that the user needs for consumer motor control applications such as washing machines and dishwashers, including oscillators, analogue inputs and timers It also includes a 20MHz 16bit CPU core that offers a far higher performance than similarly specified 8bit devices for the same price

The H8/38004F MCU offers extremely low power consumption together with 32Kbyte single-supply on-chip Flash memory and is the first in the SLP series that is available in a 64-pin quad flatpack.
The H8/36094GF series incorporates 32Kbyte of on-chip single supply Flash memory that allows the user to easily reprogram the memory without any additional special circuitry.
Large on-chip SRAM makes it ideal for applications that require a high level of data handling and calculation, such as motor control including compressors and fans.
The two high-speed serial ports combined with up to 2Kbyte of SRAM for buffering also make this device ideal for communications gateways and protocol convertors.
The on-chip I2C Interface allows the H8/36094GF to interface to a variety of peripherals such as serial EEPROMs and telecomms ICs, as well as other microcontrollers.
This makes the series useful in many consumer applications such as set-top boxes where it can be used as a low cost systems controller for handling I/O functions.
It can also be used in other consumer products including radios and stereos where I2C is the communications standard.
A powerful 16bit timer module allows the user to generate up to four channels of 16bit PWM.
The addition of a watchdog timer with independent on-chip oscillator, power on reset and low-voltage detection circuits simplifies the design of safety critical systems.
The H8/36094GF series offers a low cost integrated upgrade solution to existing Renesas H8/300H tiny users and is pin and function compatible with devices like the H8/3664F and the H8/3694GF.
