Educational initiative sends MCUs to university
Programme aims to help university staff to set up labs and hold courses with the help of Renesas products and architectures.
Renesas has rolled out its university programme into Europe.
The target aim of the programme is to support university staff to set up labs and hold courses with the help of Renesas products and architectures.
Aimed at providing the standard microcontroller architecture taught in universities worldwide, Renesas is focusing on those with best in class engineering reputations all across Europe.
The university programme will provide outstanding benefits to educational institutions and students.
Students will be prepared for the requirements of their future work place by learning and gaining practical experience with the world's leading microcontroller architectures.
From low cost R8C to high performance SH controllers, students have the opportunity to gain experience with microcontrollers using the popular Renesas starter kits - exactly the same as those used in the electronics industry.
Today's ubiquitous network society is providing more embedded controllers in the environment than ever before.
Renesas aims to be the number one partner, working together with professors and students to develop best in class programmes.
Professors and students will have access to Renesas worldwide support infrastructure, including the Renesas Interactive site, the aim being to provide the majority of the support for the programme through this website.
Additionally Renesas is to provide dedicated personal support to university staff.
Renesas Interactive will provide a consistent look and feel to the user/engineer as that seen on the Renesas websites.
Through the website, students and professors will be able to research the programmes and tools, access course material, download manuals and tutorials and access forums and professionally equipped online laboratories.
Renesas is working together with 23 universities all around Europe.
Prof Dr Matthias Sturm of Leipzig University has recently been selected as one of the ten best professors for electronics in Germany, supporting his students with outstanding commitment.
Says Sturm: "I would like to share my delight at receiving this accolade with Renesas".
"The support received from Renesas' university programme has contributed to this excellent result".
