Variable transformers put to the test
REO has introduced a range of variable transformers, with reversing motor drives and cam-operated limit switches.
Easy installation for retrofit surge protection
The CNW 703 from REO is a new surge protection filter which is designed for easy installation into existing equipment.
This is true of high-speed switching equipment which uses devices such as IGBTs (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors) operating in conjunction with large capacitors.
Users can overcome harmonics problems by upgrading existing equipment and cables or by controlling the harmonics coming onto the supply.
REO offers mains chokes which suppress interference through PFC (power factor correction) as part of a complete EMC solution.
The mains chokes are designed to operate down to 50Hz and smooth both symmetrical (real) current and the asymmetrical (interference) current.
They also reduce rapid voltage rises and improve noise attenuation which complements the damping of a conventional mains filter.
Recognising the growing need for PFC in the drives industry, and in anticipation of tightening legislation relating to the industrial sector, REO has also introduced a range of motor choke and mains filter combination units - all in one box.
This CNW series allows panel builders to ensure that their panels comply with the new regulations while simultaneously saving panel space, reducing wiring and enabling operating temperatures and conductor sizes to be reduced.
There is an ongoing debate as to whether harmonics should be suppressed to legally monitored levels but in the meantime manufacturers and buyers should be aware of, and prepare for this eventuality.
