REO (UK) has issued a new, free mini-guide that simplifies the issue of power quality problems surrounding electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) The publication of the guide also coincides with the recent European Directive 89/336/EEC, which sets out the essential EMC requirements that must be satisfied before products can be marketed anywhere in the EC The 20-page EMC filters mini guide dispenses with the need to be an expert in EMC to overcome potential or existing problems

It is designed to help all users, installers, specifiers and sales personnel to easily understand what can be a complex area, without the need to have a background in, or have a working knowledge of, electrical engineering.

The guide covers an interesting history of electromagnetic theory and summarises the latest EU directives.

It progresses into the area of EMC filters and the selection criteria that should be used to overcome problems and meet EU requirements.

Finally, testing and installation procedures are covered.

The new guide is the second in a series of power quality mini-guides.
