Review Display Systems has recently introduced a new WVGA resolution TFT display panel featuring a 9in screen size.

Based on amorphous silicon active matrix technology, the NEC NL8048BC24-01 screen features a high quality display capability with a contrast ratio of 500:1 and a typical screen brightness of 400cd/m2.

Unlike lower cost TFT panels designed specifically for video, the screen features a resolution of 800 x 480 pixel with a wide viewing angle of 80 degrees left to right, 80 degrees up and 70 degrees down, making the panel ideal for good quality mobile applications displaying both VGA and video.

To cope with the harsher mobile environments the panels operating temperature has been extended to cope with temperatures from -10 to +70C.

Although the panel features a 9in diagonal screen the overall package size is just 220 x 136 x 11mm, making it suitable for any application where space is a real premium.

Power consumption is just 5.9W at full brightness.

A range of compact interface controller boards are also available; these feature VGA, video and DVI inputs and sound outputs, together with all the necessary cables and control boards to allow quick and simple installation within a system.

For rugged applications additional screen protection can be added using some of the latest replaceable filter materials from 3M.
