Two new touch controllers provide easy interface solutions for a variety of resistive and capacitive touch technologies.

Two new touch controllers from RDS provide easy interface solutions for a variety of resistive and capacitive touch technologies For resistive panels the new Devil Ray controller has been designed as a universal solution for all types of resistive touch screen

The Devil Ray can be run from either RS232 or via USB and be connected to a four-, five- or eight-wire touch screen.

With an onboard ZIF connector the Devil Ray can accommodate four-wire flat tail touch screens as well as the standard AMP style.

The universal driver software has an auto detect function and also comes in either a 10 or 12bit resolution.

The small form factor of this board adds to it ease of integration at only 53.6 x 24.4mm and an overall height of just over 8mm.

The Devil Ray also has a low clock frequency of 4MHz which helps to meet CE regulations and EMI emissions.

The new C-Ray controller has been designed as universal capacitive touch controller.

The C-Ray uses the same drivers as the Devil Ray, and so auto detection for both communication method and touch screen type is possible.

The form factor is compatible with other industry standards and bridge building legacy support drivers are also available to help make migration from a nonuniversal controller to the Hampshire C-Ray.

The universal driver has as standard drivers for DOS, Win9x, Me, XP Win 2000, CE, Net, Mac and Linux.

Custom drivers can also be created.
