SoC drives novel PCI digitiser card

A RF Engines product story

RF Engines and Acqiris have codeveloped a new high-speed digitiser design and processing core.

RF Engines and Acqiris have codeveloped a new high-speed digitiser design and processing core.

RF Engines is supplying a complete system-on-chip design for one of Acqiris's new high-speed digitisers, the AC240 2Gsample/s cPCI card.

This new card carries a large onboard Virtex II PRO70 FPGA to hold the complex real-time processing solutions from RFEL.

In this first customer application, a complex pulse frequency measurement core will be provided.

However, the processing power available on the card will allow applications that require large FFT algorithms of up to 32K points, running in real time at the full input rate provided by the card.

John Summers, RF Engines' VP of Sales and Business Development, commented: "We are delighted to be working with Acqiris who have a tremendous record for producing world class data acquisition and processing systems.

This work is an excellent blend of RF Engines' skills in high performance channelisation designs delivered to a relatively short timescale, and the instrumentation design skills of Acqiris, where very high speed data capture and analysis is required".

Viktor Hungerbuehler, Acqiris' VP of Engineering, stated: "This is an important project for a key customer application, demanding a very high performance digitiser solution with a fairly tight delivery programme.

We are very confident that this collaboration will work well, and this relationship with RFEL strengthens even more our partnership programme with key technology suppliers around the world".
