In a bid to further improve its service to customers, Radio Frequency Investigation Ltd (RFI) has merged its Radio Performance and EMC testing groups.

In a bid to further improve its service to customers, Radio Frequency Investigation Ltd (RFI) has merged its Radio Performance and EMC testing groups.

Evolving EMC and Radio approval requirements have led to greater synergy between the two test areas and staff have undergone a multi-skilling programme enabling them to work across both areas.

Grant Taylor is now responsible for all testing operations at RFI's Ewhurst Park facility and explained, "The transfer of our mobile communications activities to Thatcham has created opportunities for the expansion of EMC, Microwave and Radio testing activities, whilst also allowing us to develop our SAR test facility which is now fully operational and presently booked up to three week lead time already.

The merger will allow us to be more efficient and deliver a faster service to our clients".

The SAR Test Facility will be officially opened on 1 November 2000, by Sir William Stewart, author of the Government-commissioned Stewart Report and Chairman of the Independent Expert Group on Mobile Phones.

The guest speaker is Oliver Egger of Schmid and Partner, pioneers of SAR measurement technology.

There will also be a technical seminar and a tour of the facilities.
