Smartcard consultancy and testing services
RFI is the first organisation in the UK to offer independent, commercial Smartcard development testing, consultancy and type approval services to manufacturers of Smartcard readers and terminals.
Radio Frequency Investigation (RFI) is the first organisation in the UK to offer independent, commercial Smartcard development testing, consultancy and type approval services to manufacturers of Smartcard readers and terminals.
Following a substantial investment, test systems have been installed and commissioned, VISA approval is imminent and EMVCo accreditation for carrying out type approval to EMV levels 1 and 2 is expected in January.
The services will initially be for contact card systems in the banking and finance sectors with the eventual expansion into contactless card systems mainly for the transport sector later in 2001.
Vic Clements, a principal engineer in RFI's strategic development department explained, "The decision to move into Smartcard services has evolved from our telecommunications and radio expertise, and in particular our strong background in SIM card testing.
The convergence of technologies such as 3G, Bluetooth and E-commerce is driving our strategy for the future and makes Smartcard services an obvious addition to our test capabilities, rounding out our portfolio".
RFI will be exhibiting at Smartcard 2001 being held at the Excel Exhibition and Conference Centre, London from 20th to 22nd February and can be found on Stand D66.
