RFI becomes a TCB for the FCC
Radio Frequency Investigation (RFI) has been appointed as a Telecommunications Certification Body (TCB) by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the USA.
The CTIA certification schemes encompass wireless products operating in North America cellular bands 800MHz and PCS 1900MHz and its general aim is to help ensure customer satisfaction by verifying conformance of wireless products with established industry standards.
Verification is accomplished by performing an independent evaluation within an appointed CATL.
Benefits of CTIA certification include: providing assurance to network operators and service providers that products being purchased meet important industry performance standards; speeding time-to-market by providing a common independent evaluation; and providing and assurance to the end user by the application of the CTIA Certification Seal.
This voluntary certification scheme will be an important consideration for mobile terminal manufacturers who are looking to place their products on the North American market.
