Smartcard consultancy and testing services
RFI is the first organisation in the UK to offer independent, commercial Smartcard development testing, consultancy and type approval services to manufacturers of Smartcard readers and terminals.
This has been designed for the Austrian market with potential sales reaching 5000 per annum.
In addition RFI is testing Preco's PreView object detection system designed for construction and public vehicles such as school buses that helps drivers see objects or people in blind areas.
The third product is Preco's 270 Bac-A-Larm extending its alarm products to over 50 different audible warning systems.
Defining test requirements for different markets for a product range is complex and is complicated further by OEMs' different requirements.
In addition recent changes to the Vehicle Directive for aftermarket accessories mean that products must now be 'e' marked instead of (or in addition to) CE marking.
An important aspect has been RFI's ability to advise Preco on testing requirements for its extensive product range and markets.
Tyler Posey Production Engineering Manager of Preco commented: "Backing devices are tested to many different international standards.
Our products are rugged enough to be used in heavy-duty construction vehicles, versatile to be configured to meet customers' needs and simple enough to allow easy installation and maintenance.
We chose RFI because its European testing expertise ensures the attention to quality that our customers demand".
