RFI has upgraded its Anite SAT+ testing capability to support testing in the GSM 850 band (for US mobiles).

RFI has upgraded its Anite SAT+ testing capability to support testing in the GSM 850 band (for US mobiles) RFI is the only independent ISO17025 laboratory to support the Anite SAT6+ GSM 850 test platform

RFI will be able to carry out all GPRS tests that require up to six channels in addition to the Phase 2 test cases at GSM 850.

The upgrade will help to meet increasing demand for quad band testing and also increases its GSM 1900 test capacity.

In North America the 1900MHz band is becoming increasingly populated, making the 850MHz spectrum (conventionally used by analogue phones) an attractive alternative.

Mobile phone manufacturers are now designing quad-band products for use in the 850MHz band in addition to 900, 1800 and 1900MHz bands.

RFI's investment in telecomms test equipment now stands at GBP 6 million.

RFI reckons its Thatcham test facility is one of the best equipped single-location laboratories in the world.
