Kit gets wireless networks meshing in minutes
A new kit allows a user to create a wireless sensor network demonstration in minutes, and to prototype an actual application in a matter of hours.
RF Monolithics today has begun shipping the development kit for its newly announced DM1800 embedded wireless mesh networking module family.
The kit allows a user to create a wireless sensor network demonstration in minutes, and to prototype an actual application in a matter of hours.
The DM1800 modules already incorporate several features that make it particularly easy to set up and operate a wireless mesh network, and the DM1800 Development Kit takes advantage of those unique features.
RF Monolithics' DM1800 module family is an economical embedded solution for wireless sensor mesh networking applications of a few hundred nodes.
The DM1800 modules incorporate RF Monolithics' miniMesh networking protocol, which is optimised for smaller mesh networking clusters, low power consumption, automatic mesh setup and low overhead operation.
MiniMesh is an entry level mesh network that can meet the needs of many connectivity applications.
The DM1800 module provides the best combination of price, coverage, and low-power operation currently available in a commercial wireless mesh networking product.
"Wireless sensor networking using mesh technologies is an important and emerging approach to wireless connectivity in many applications", said Wayne Stargardt, Director of Marketing for RF Monolithics' Wireless Systems Group.
"The DM1800 Development Kit is a useful tool for our customers to become familiar with this new technology and to prototype its use in their own application".
"This kit makes it easy to accomplish that in a matter of hours".
RF Monolithics announced the DM1800 family of modules in November 2005 as the latest addition to its embedded wireless module product lines and began shipping samples of the modules in January 2006.
The DM1800 Development Kit is shipping in frequencies for both the US and the European markets and the modules meet regulatory certification requirements in both regions.
The development kit is already being used to prototype applications from industrial sensor monitoring to automated meter reading to home automation.
The DM1800 Development Kit is available directly from RF Monolithics.
