The UTR3 ultrasonic transmitter/receiver from RF Solutions provides a low-cost, drop-in solution for a wide range of movement detection applications.

The UTR3 ultrasonic transmitter/receiver from RF Solutions provides a low-cost, drop-in solution for a wide range of movement detection applications These include car alarms, residential and commercial security, and door opening systems

An encapsulated thick film hybrid design enables the UTR3 to exhibit stable electrical characteristics across its operating temperature range of -20 to +80C.

The unit which features an AC input amplifier with automatic gain control, detects movement by measuring the amplitude variation of a received 40kHz ultrasonic signal.

An onboard piezoceramic transmitter is used to generate the 40kHz transmitted signal.

Detected movement is represented at the output by a 'low' signal.

The UTR3 is designed such that only a few external components are required to complete a design.

The PCB which measures 38.1 x 15.24mm requires two separate supply voltage inputs of +12 and +5V.

The design is configured for through-hole vertical mounting and includes two external trimmer pinouts and a test point.
