The IRT1 and IRD1 infra-red pulse transmitter and detector from RF Solutions provides a simple and economical solution for applications such as automatic door opening and building security systems Both transmitter and detector boards have a compact design and SIL pins to enable vertical mounting into customer PCBs

The transmitted infra-red beam has a typical frequency of 400Hz and can be detected by the IRD1 module at a distance of up to 20m.

If the beam is broken, then both high and low output signals are generated on IRD1 pins nine and seven, respectively.

The thick-film hybrid technology used on both modules results in stable electrical characteristics and high RFI immunity.

This makes them suitable for use in harsh environments and in close proximity to other electrical devices.

Supply voltages required are 9V DC for the transmitter, and either 12 or 24V DC for the detector.

Both parts have an operating temperature range of -20 to +80C.
