Remote control transmitters need no licence
RF Solutions has launched a series of rugged, licence-exempt hand-held radio transmitter encoders for remote control applications designed to operate in harsh and outdoor environments
The inclusion of an ARM7TDMI processor gives the XE1610-OEMPVT significant computing power and flexibility.
The module uses advanced FirstGPS architecture to help deliver impressive performance that includes tracking sensitivity to -143dBm, positional accuracy of less than 5m CEP (50%) without horizontal SA, and urban area tracking capability.
The module keeps dormant time to a minimum with warm start possible in less than 40s, and hot start taking less than 12s.
With a significant number of potential applications being battery powered, low power consumption is a particularly important feature; The optimised RF and DSP architectures and low power integrated circuit design of the XE1610-OEMPVT, result in power consumption of less than 17mA at 3.3V when tracking or carrying out positional fixes.
Further power savings are achieved through the availability of three different power down modes that make it possible to switch-off specific parts of the module that may not be required all of the time.
Onboard RAM allows storage of GPS navigation data, with Flash memory used to back-up data and allow customisation for high volume applications.
The module has a subminiature HFL connector that provides an antenna interface, and a 16-contact board-to-board flat cable connector that gives a data connection.
The XE1610-OEMPVT measures 25 x 30 x 9.5mm and has an operating temperature range of -40 to +85C.
