Remote control transmitters need no licence
RF Solutions has launched a series of rugged, licence-exempt hand-held radio transmitter encoders for remote control applications designed to operate in harsh and outdoor environments
An RF transceiver only version - the RXQ1 - is also available.
Able to achieve data transfer at up to 20Kbaud and with a range of up to 200m, the modules provide an ideal datacommunications solution in applications such as wireless security systems, EPOS terminals, remote meter reading and sensor data logging.
The small size and low power consumption of the modules also makes them ideal for handheld, battery-operated applications.
Both one-to-one and multinode relationships can be easily configured.
The TRXQ1 Smart Radio transceiver incorporates all the functions of a complete radio modem and simply requires CMOS/TTL data at its transmit input for the corresponding transceivers to output the same data.
A serial data interface with handshake, selectable dumb or intelligent modem modes and an onboard 190byte buffer are all included in the specification.
Both the TRXQ1 and RXQ1 are able to operate in two user-selectable channels - 433.92 and 434.33MHz.
The modules use a crystal controlled design to provide narrowband performance that is superior to that of surface acoustic wave (SAW) based designs; performance is further enhanced by excellent interference rejection and a stable operating frequency.
The modules operate from a supply voltage of 3 to 5V and are supplied on a low-profile 18-pin ceramic DIL package.
The operating temperature range for both the TRXQ1 and RXQ1 is -20 to +85C.
