The Global Certification Forum (GCF) has defined four packages with protocol and RF test cases for WCDMA.

In accordance with GCF guidelines, validation of 80% of the test cases from the fourth and last package had to be completed by mid-January when the Combined Agreement Group (CAG) meeting was held.
This requirement had to be met before 3G mobile phones could be certified.
Rohde and Schwarz significantly contributed to achieving this objective.
To date, the company has validated well over 300 protocol test cases for WCDMA, thus ranking at the top.
The company was also instrumental in the successful validation of 80% of the RF test cases.
Moreover, Rohde and Schwarz is the only company to offer test cases for all areas of 3G testing.
This includes signalling protocol and RF tests as well as radio resource management (RRM) and audio tests.
Rohde and Schwarz is one of the few manufacturers to cover PTCRB-validated protocol and RF test cases for the FDD2 frequency band approved in the USA.
The Personal Communication System Type Certification Review Board (PTCRB) is responsible for the certification of mobile phones in North America.
In total, 95% of PTCRB-accredited test houses use test equipment from Rohde and Schwarz.
The protocol test cases for the FDD1 and FDD2 frequency bands can run on the R and S CRTU-W protocol tester.
The R and S TS8950W certification system as well as the RRM test system support the validated RF test cases for FDD1 and FDD2.
