Modules simplify power sensor connection
New power sensor modules for the R and S FSMR measuring receiver integrate power splitters, allowing users to perform all measurements using a single signal connector.
New power sensor modules for the R and S FSMR measuring receiver integrate power splitters, allowing users to exactly determine signal power and perform all other measurements using a single signal connector.
The R and S NRP-Z27 and R and S NRP-Z37 cover frequency ranges up to 18 and 26.5GHz, respectively, and so provide in conjunction with the R and S FSMR a highly compact all-in-one solution for calibrating signal sources.
When calibrating signal generators, high accuracy is crucial.
Equipped with the R and S NRP-Z27/-Z37 module, the R and S FSMR becomes a high-precision power meter with a dynamic range from -115 to +30dBm.
Users can connect the R and S NRP-Z27 or R and S NRP-Z37 directly to the signal generator to be calibrated and to the R and S FSMR measuring receiver.
One part of the signal power is coupled out to the sensor test cell via the power splitters integrated in the power sensors.
The other part is transferred to the R and S FSMR via a high-quality microwave cable.
This removes the need to switch between the power sensor module and the measuring receiver, as would be necessary when two separate instruments are used.
This simplifies operation and increases measurement efficiency.
As with other power sensor modules of the R and S NRP family, the R and S NRP-Z27/-Z37 modules also process the measurement results in the sensor while compensating the integrated power splitter and the effect of the R and S FSMR via an internal S-parameter correction.
The power sensor modules can therefore be used as fully fledged measurement instruments that communicate directly with the measuring receiver via a USB connection.
The base unit normally used for driving the sensors is not needed.
The R and S FSMR already combines level calibrator, modulation and audio analyser as well as a full-featured spectrum analyser in one unit.
It performs all measurements that are necessary for the calibration of signal generators and fixed or variable attenuators.
The R and S NRP-Z27/-Z37 power sensor modules are available now from Rohde and Schwarz.
