Testers support new digital TV standard
Rohde and Schwartz produces both operating equipment and test instruments for new DVB-H digital TV standard.
It has been approved by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) for the transmission of information classified up to Restricted.
Data are encrypted using the IDEA algorithm (128bit).
The device is equipped with a customer-owned trust centre that allows users to independently manage all security-related user identification data.
Companies with multiple sites that wish to interconnect their internal networks (LANs) can set up a secure VPN in a nonsecure public network by using two or more R and S LineCrypt L devices.
The R and S LineCrypt L is inserted at the handover point between the internal and the external network.
User data encryption is implemented by means of the IDEA (International Data Encryption Algorithm), using a 128bit key.
A new key is generated for each session.
The LineCrypt L, which is based on T TeleSec hardware, comes with a customer-owned trust centre that generates the RSA keys required for authentication and key distribution.
A hardware-based true random number generator forms the basis for professional encryption.
Users can also generate and manage certificates and user chip cards by means of the trust centre management functions.
The chip cards are employed for user identification; they contain all security-related data such as device group and the user's public key.
A closed user group can be defined in this way, and communication within this group is protected against unauthorised access, interception and manipulation by third parties.
Moreover, communication rights between the communicating parties are implicitly defined.
All certificates and other security parameters are exclusively under the user's control.
Users are thus independent of card and device suppliers and can employ their devices flexibly.
The R and S LineCrypt L is now available from Rohde and Schwarz. Request a free brochure from Rohde and Schwarz ...
